For me it is very interesting to become a student of the University of the People because I have been engaging in the electronic discourse with all mates from all over the world. I come from the developing country and never have such a kind of this learning before. I am very appreciating of the learning by attached to a laptop with a mobile phone modem (3G) which can help it work so far. Electronic discourse is a new concept for me and I feel full of enthusiasm with it right now. Before I feel that I can’t access to meet the university and my classmates, how can I find the real knowledge?
Now I realized that I have been engaged in the electronic discourse, my doubtfulness on the study online this time was solved. We have learned a lot from each other from day to day which it is acceptable for us to compare with the traditional education routine, online you must have a strong motivation and well prepared, good personal management, strongly writing/reading to understand more what people thinks.
My opinion changed with time of electronic discourse
These studies commonly claim that electronic discourses, generating new social dynamics, require new instructional organization and strategies in order to promote students' active learning. There are six important inputs to this relevant electronic discourse:
Inquiry-Based Discourse -Students' explorations of their own meanings of knowledge with their own or teacher-raised provocative questions
Information Sharing -Information seeking or probing with specific questions looking for answers.
Reading Reflection -Students' deliberate expressions of thoughts regarding course readings or messages in relation with their personal knowledge, experiences, or belief systems.
Analytical Evaluation-Students' evaluations of messages or other readings with their judgmental decisions in regard to their own or teacher-provided criteria.
Argumentative Discourse- Learners' extended understanding of the complexity of the discussion topic, and their enhanced commitment to cooperative learning.
Project-Based Discourse-Students' sharing of project proposals and progress reports, and their continuous reconstructions of projects in terms of others' feedback.
